Casa Aranda is one of the longest standing cafes in Malaga, doing business in this same street since 1932. This cafe is an institution among Malagueños and has served its homemade churros to the grateful public for 75 years. If you are unfamiliar with churros, then it's time you sampled some, and this is the place to do it. A simple dough of flour and water is squeezed in long sausages into hot oil, fried until golden, then served piping hot and dipped into cups of the thickest chocolate. Don't be confused, this is not drinking chocolate, it could tarmac a road so thick is it, and is made for dunking your churros before gratefully wolfing it down, accompanied by a 'mitad' or 'cortado', whichever of the nine shades of coffee Málaga style you want.It'ss a great breakfast, and if you are just heading home from one of the later nightspots then its a great way to head for bed after a night on the tiles. Or if it's not too late, it's also a great hangover cure if you've just crawled out. Either way, churros is served in the mornings usually. The Casa Aranda is a typically loud, simple cafe whose great strength is the absence of marketing gimmicks, weird modern coffee concoctions and in your face branding. Some things are so simple and pure, that's all you want, and it's a relief to find this in a world full of marketing. If it aint broke, don't fix it.
