Description

No trip to Malaga can be considered truly complete without exploring the charming fishing district of Pedregalejo. Nestled to the east of the capital, this small oasis beautifully blends tradition and modernity. Here, you'll find the perfect harmony of sun, beaches, delectable cuisine, recreational activities, and a unique perspective on life. Pedregalejo offers an unparalleled experience where time seems to slow down, allowing you to savor every moment. We embark on our journey from the Balneario de los Baños del Carmen, a truly precious heritage gem and one of the most enchanting coastal havens in the city, offering breathtaking views of the bay of Malaga. As the gateway to Pedregalejo, this extraordinary building from the early twentieth century sets the perfect ambiance to immerse oneself in the unique 'slow life' culture prevalent throughout the neighborhood. The neighborhood's evolution in recent years has also made its mark on the diverse gastronomic scene. Our next destination takes us to one of those remarkable establishments that skillfully blend tradition and modernity in their culinary creations. Indulge in their original cuisine featuring seasonal tomatoes, locally sourced cheeses with designated origins, and the bounties of the sea. These traditional dishes come alive with a special Mediterranean touch. We will then meander through the ancient fisherman's dwellings, navigating their narrow streets and discovering delightful hidden corners until we reach one of the quintessential beach bars that define the coast's identity. There, on the sandy shore, we will witness firsthand the art of cooking 'espetos de sardina,' the pride of the 'Marenga' gastronomy (a term used in Malaga for those connected to fishing and other maritime crafts). This iconic neighborhood dish will be complemented by a leisurely day dedicated to savoring the renowned 'pescaíto frito' that has made this area famous. And to conclude our journey on a sweet note, there's no better choice than indulging in the delectable ice cream crafted by the Lauri Ice Cream Shop (only from May-Oct), an institution in the neighborhood that has upheld its reputation for over 60 years through the exceptional quality of its products. You are all cordially invited to join us! Please note that stops and tastings may change to reflect seasonal produce, and our partners availability.
